Mt. Lukens Day Hike

Join Caltech Y Outdoors this Saturday, October 25th, for a hike up to Mt. Lukens, the highest point in LA! This will be a difficult hike, as it is 9 miles round-trip with 2700 ft of climbing. A description of the trail can be found at this link. We will depart from the Caltech Y at 7am, and we anticipate returning to campus by 3pm. Hikers will need to come prepared with sturdy hiking shoes, at least 3 L of water, a light lunch, and plenty of snacks. While the weather will be relatively cool with temperatures below 80 degrees, there is minimal shade, so hikers should also be prepared for sun exposure (sun screen!).

The trip is free, but you must have your own transportation to, and from, the trailhead or carpool with others (a group spreadsheet will be sent out for those who want to self-organize carpooling)... and those carpooling should anticipate chipping in about $5 for gas.  Look for a confirmation email with more details and logistics.  Sign-ups are first-come, first-served.  Feel free to email Rithvik (rramesh@caltech.edu) or Satvik (sgkumar@caltech.edu) if you have questions.
