rise program scholarship

The Scholarship Fund was created thanks to the financial support of the Caltech Y Tom M. Apostol Fund for Sciencce and Math Outreach to graduating high school seniors participating in the Rise Program.  Scholarship amounts range from $500-$1000 per student.  Applications open annually in March. 

eligibility 

  • Be a high school senior on track for graduation

  • Attending a 2 or 4-year college/university in the Fall

  • Be a current or former Rise student (joined the Rise Program during junior year or earlier)

selection process  

  • Completed applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee

  • If you are selected, the scholarship committee will notify the student in the month of May 2019 

  • Scholarship checks will be awarded upon verification of enrollment at an accredited college or university for the 2019-2020 academic year. 

 

 

Application process 

  • Submit a current resume detailing education, work exerpeince (if applicable), achievements, extracurricular activities, and community service/involvement. 

  • Submit a 500-700 word essay answering the following question: 

    • How has the Rise Program made a difference in your life? ​

    • Essay response must be typed, 12-point font size in Arial or Times New Roman and double spaced 

  • If awarded a scholarship, how do you plan to use the funding? Include a 100 word or less response at the end of your essay. 

  • At the beginning of your essay include the following information:

    • Name ​

    • Current High School 

    • When did you join the Rise Program (Month/Year)?

    • Name of College/University you plan to attend in the Fall of 2019 

  • Email essays, resume and contact information to rise@caltech.edu by deadline.
