Caltech Y Staff

The Caltech Y staff exists to support the vision and efforts of the Board Of Directors and the ExComm.

The Caltech Y Staff includes:

Athena Castro, Executive Director
In 1994, Athena began working at Caltech, where she has filled a number of roles including her current position as Executive Director of the Y which she began in 2000. She earned a BA in English Literature at Scripps College and a Masters in Education with an emphasis in College Student Affairs at Azusa Pacific University.

Greg Fletcher, Student Activities & Community Service Director
Prior to coming to the Caltech Y in 2001, Greg previously worked in Residence Life at UCLA and Cal Poly Pomona, and in Student Life on board the SS Universe Explorer for Semester At Sea. Greg is a native of Niagara Falls, Canada, and holds a Master of Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University.

Christopher Kealey, Marketing & Development Director
Christopher joined the Caltech Y in 2004 after 10 years of international community service work, development and non-profit management. He is the Founding Director of Peace Works International, a Pasadena non-profit dedicated to community service and cultural awareness. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica. Christopher holds an M.B.A. from Claremont Graduate University.

Alycen Chan, Assistant Director of Programs and Services
Alycen Chan has a background in education with 7 years of teaching experience, including 3 years as a Founding Teacher of KIPP Los Angeles Charter Middle School. Alycen is very passionate about working to improve opportunities for students in schools and areas that lack educational resources. She is very excited to be a part of the Caltech Y staff and hopes to help the Y make a positive contribution to the Pasadena Community.

Liz Jackman, Administrative Assistant
Liz is the newest Y staff member. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Education at Azusa Pacific University. Liz is well traveled having spent four years teaching in Japan. She also speaks fluent German.
